Belly fat! Everyone has it, and nobody wants it. It consists mostly of visceral fat, which is the most harmful type of fat that is stored within the body.
We all look in the mirror trying to find the best angle. Toned abdominals, and a six pack that has the definition of a cobblestone road, are our goals. Crunches, sit-ups, and planks are the general weapons to combat the fat, however, exercise alone is not the only solution.
Like any good recipe for a healthy life, one ingredient is not enough. Dark chocolate goes well with a sprinkling of sea salt and exercise goes hand in hand with diet and supplementation. But which supplement really works to shed excess fat? Within the last 10 years, there have been some impressive results from studies done on a supplement called Oligonol.
First off, Oligonol is not like every other supplement out there. It is actually quite powerful and unique. Oligonol contains polyphenols, which are chemical compounds found in super foods and plants. They are also characterized as antioxidants. A human clinical trial published in the Journal of Functional Foods in 2009, had 18 volunteers taking 100mg of Oligonol for 10 weeks. The results were as such; “decrease in body weight, abdominal circumference, and visceral fat”, and improved insulin resistance.
Not only is Oligonol great for reducing fat but it has also shown promise with metabolic syndrome (both hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis). It increases peripheral circulation, aids in hyperglycemia, acts as an anti-inflammatory, and guards the skin against aging, such as reducing wrinkles. Less fat and less wrinkles? Who can argue with that!
